Apart from dodgers, sprayhoods, biminis, boom tents and sail cover, we make and supply Winter Covers. The immediate solution for keeping out the winter weather is already-made polyethylene tarpaulin. These come in various grades. The least expensive we call a “single season” sheet. Heavier duty sheets provide long service of course. The biggest problem in handling these is their very size. Fitting them in a high wind is certainly a two or even a four person job. Consideration should be given to the purchase of two smaller sheets that over against the prevailing wind. If a shaped cover is required we can offer welded sheets of polyester/PVC. These will give longer service but are at least twice the weight (per sq metre) of a ready-made sheet. Measurements for a made-to-measure sheet should be taken over all deck fittings including, if they are not coming down, the guardrail stanchions. They should be taken all the way down the boat at right angles to the centre line at metre intervals.
